Alien Invasion by BNVS Nail Color

Today's lovely is my second-to-last BNVS color, and the one I THOUGHT would be my favorite. As you'll see tomorrow, I was very, very wrong :)

Meet Alien Invasion, a pale spring green with silver shimmer. This is two coats, topped with Out the Door, photographed under Ott Lite.

Alien Invasion is a part of the Fall 2012 color line. Check out the shimmer!

As with the other BNVS polishes I've used, I had no issues with this one. It was smooth applying, and quick drying. It smells different, but no stronger or worse than any other polish in the world. I can see myself pulling this puppy out as a base for nail art throughout the spring!

BNVS Nail Colors can be purchased on Etsy, and liked on Facebook. Please, please go show Lana some love- I'm so impressed with this brand, and I can't wait for new colors!

Candy Craze by BNVS Nail Color: Swatch & Review

How many of you lovelies out there are fans of yellow polish? I never have been, for two very big reasons: yellow polishes look horrible on me, and most yellow polishes are a bear to work with. Despite all that, I've been on a yellow polish binge lately, and I'm falling in love! Maybe it's the winter-hater in me coming out, longing for spring and sunshine, but yellow is becoming my go to color lately!

This puppy here is the yellow that started it all: Candy Crazy by BNVS Nail Color.

This is three coats of Candy Craze, topped with Out the Door. First two photos taken under Ott Lite. Candy Crazy is a bright, cheery sunshine yellow creme with just a hint of jelly-ness.

Artistic Hand pose? I think I shall :)

These next two photos are taken outdoors, in natural sunlight. This polish was originally released as part of the Fall 2012 color line, but I don't care. It's such a bright and cheery color that it will be perfect through spring and summer, and right back into fall 2013.

As with Bootiful (the other creme BNVS color I showed off), Candy Craze went on bright and easy in three quick coats. Two may be sufficient for more careful polishers, but I still had some patchiness issues, so on went the third. I have the same bottle complaint- the round label doesn't quite fit the square bottle, so I feel compelled to pick at it- but when the worst thing you can say about a polish is that you want to peel off the label, I'd call that a win!

I've been super impressed with all of the BNVS Nail Colors that I've tried- I have a total of five, so be on the lookout for the shimmers in the next week or so! BNVS can be purchased on Etsy, for a whopping $3.50 per full size bottle! Selection is small at the moment, but I fully expect Lana and BNVS to take off.

New 31DC: Inspired by a Game

Today's prompt was a no brainer for me- my family plays a lot of games, and most of them are card games!

I started with a base of BNVS Bobbing for Apples (review coming soon!) on all fingers. I then drew out suits with a sharpie. I filled in the club and spade, and filled the negative space around the heart and diamond, with Sinful Colors Black on Black. The Q-A-K-J were done with a dotting tool and polish. I love this mani so much- red and black are just classic together, and cards are always so much fun! I can't wait to redo this mani the next time we have a card night :)

Be sure to click all the links below to see which games the other challengers were inspired by!

Bootiful by BNVS Nail Color: Swatch & Review

Hello, dears! Today is a special day for me, as it marks my return to indie reviews! When I began the Crumpet's Nail Tarts' New 31 Day Challenge, I was soo sure that I would have NO problem keeping up with both the challenge AND doing polish reviews. And packing, and moving, and painting the new house, and working, and and and. Silly me! But today I am back, with a brand new indie, BNVS Nail Color! (And I promise, I have many more indie, and even some Big Brand posts batched and ready to go, lest I fall behind again.)

Today's color is Bootiful, from BNVS' Fall 2012 color line. Lana, the creator, calls this color a vibrant orange, and says that three coats are probably necessary to get a streak free, truly vibrant color.

If you aren't aware by now, I'm a huge sucker for creme polishes, and obviously I a giant fan and supporter or indie polishes. So when those two things combine, I'm in heaven. I'm also starting to get into a bit of a winter slump, so bright colors have definitely been my go to recently.

Bootiful is a bright, cheery carrot-y orange creme polish. I did use three coats, as recommended, but if you are a more careful polisher, I think two would be fine. The color was very bright and opaque in two coats, but there were indeed some patchiness issues, so I applied the third. Overall, the application on this polish was wonderful. It's gorgeous on its own, and makes for an excellent base for nail art or glitter toppers. I topped with Seche Vite. Photos are taken under my Ott Lite.

BNVS Nail colors come in thin square bottles, which I love- 90% of hand poured indie polishes come in the same round bottle with a black cap- myself included! So anything that stands out from the crowd wins in my book. The label, however, is round, and doesn't quite fit. You can see it hanging off the edge ned my thumb in the first photo. This is in no way a deal breaker, but if you're an obsessive picker like me, it will drive you slightly crazy!

This polish also smells odd. It's not super stinky, or any stronger than any other indie polish I've used. In fact, the smell is probably less strong, and doesn't linger very long. But it does smell . . . different. I don't mean this to be a criticism, as it is not a bad thing, but I did think it was worth mentioning.

I do have several other colors to review from BNVS' Fall 2012 color line, and I couldn't be more excited! I've been very impressed with the quality and application of the polishes I've worn so far, and expect to see the same from those that are sitting in my untried box.

Have you heard of or tried anything from BNVS Nail Color? Polishes can be purchased on Etsy- 1/2 oz bottles are only $3.50!
