Penelope Luz Taurus: Swatch and Review

I've been on a bit of a hot streak lately, and have won a few wonderful nail related giveaways, and today's polish comes from one of those! The amazing Kelly over at Set in Lacquer sent me a phenomenal prize package with a brand-new-to-me indie brand, the Brazilian Penelope Luz!

The focus of today's review is Taurus, which in the main colors in my manis, but also features Ocean Jewel as an accent nail. Ocean Jewel will receive its own review at a later date, so I'll only be talking about Taurus in this post. All photos show three coats of Taurus, topped with Out the Door. Photos taken under Ott Lite.

Taurus is described as a "dark teal jelly base with silver micro glitters and hexagonal holographic blue". It is absolutely the jelly-est jelly I have ever applied, and My. GOD. would you look at that depth!

Trust me when I say: click to enlarge! I really don't like blue polish in general, but I was absolutely SMITTEN with Taurus! It's deep and dark and mysterious, and just green-leaning/teal enough to make me not write it off right away. And boy am I glad I gave it a shot! I spent at least and hour just shifting my nails under the light to watch the sparkle! It's one of those "don't wear while driving" type polishes. Application was just perfect, even for a jelly. No dragging whatsoever! I just . . . can't even come up with adequate words to describe my love for this polish!

*Note: I've seen some other blogger complaining about staining with this polish, but I didn't experience any at all. I use Sinful Colors base coat, and did not use a colored base.

Penelope Luz polishes can be purchased through Color4NailsMei Mei's Signatures and Norway Nails. The price is pretty variable through the different retailers, but US customers ordering from Color4Nails will pay $10 per bottle.

*Polish received as part of a giveaway package. All opinions are my own.
